None of it fully works — the bond runs deeper than she realizes.
Meanwhile, Chen Lanlan keeps performing increasingly outrageous surgeries — bone marrow punctures, gastric cancer resections, and eventually a brain tissue removal on the richest man’s daughter — while Yueyue absorbs all the pain, vomiting blood on planes and collapsing at press conferences. The hospital director is fully complicit, having signed a ten-year contract with Chen Lanlan worth hundreds of millions.
The drama escalates to live-streamed surgical showdowns where Yueyue and Chen Lanlan compete head-to-head. Yueyue — correctly diagnosing a baby’s heart defect as a micro-issue that doesn’t require surgery, while Chen Lanlan nearly kills the infant trying to operate — proves she’s the better doctor.
